We’re excited to share our October Member Feature, Seabridge from Australia.
Get to know Justin Todd from Seabridge:
-
Tell us about yourself and how long have you been in the industry.
-
“Following my father’s long career in international freight forwarding, I joined the industry back in 2000 as a junior freight clerk. I quickly worked my way through various departments learning the pillars of logistics and management. In 2011, I took a leap of faith and started Seabridge. The key focus was to deliver exceptional service to our loyal and valued customers; something that was quickly leaving the industry as other businesses centralised and begun offshoring. Fast forward 11 years and Seabridge now has multiple offices throughout Australia, New Zealand and China.”

-
-
Interesting fact/favorite thing about your local market?
-
“The market wants the best possible service albeit at the lowest cost. Most companies don’t understand or value the intangible factors unless and until they suffer firsthand. Also, customers who have been working with multiple vendors are looking to consolidate, so as to bring more visibility.”
-

-
We’re also excited to share our September Member Feature, Transport Acción from Mexico CIty, Mexico.
Get to know Bibiana Frías Humphrey from Transport Acción:
-
Tell us about yourself and how long have you been in the industry.
-
“My name is Bibiana Frías Humphrey, I was born in Mexico City and started working in the industry when I was 13 years old, when my father invited me to his office every summer to file tons of air waybills, which covered the export and import shipments that the company was carrying out at that time for one of our main clients and that had production plants in different cities of the country. We are talking about IBM of Mexico. When I finished my university studies, I worked in different industries, but it was when I finished my MBA that I returned to TRANSPORT ACCION to collaborate in the financial area. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to support the company in the creation of the maritime operations area, which was a great challenge and gave me the opportunity to delve deeper into the field of shipping logistics. Today, in the absence of my father, mentor and guide, I am learning to lead the organization and above all, developing my commercial skills so that TRANSPORT ACCION strengthens its presence in the national and international market. This year we celebrate 46 years as freight forwarders in Mexico, after which we have had the opportunity to do business in practically every country in the world, serving everything from couriers to oversized project cargo. However, our areas of greatest expertise are in the handling of auto parts and aerospace, both in airfreight and door-to-door ocean freight.”
-
-
How do you distinguish yourself from your competition, what makes you different?
-
“In 1976, Transport Acción was the third Freight Forwarder nationwide that received authorization from the Government to consolidate and deconsolidate cargo in Mexico. Today there are more than 250 agencies and many of them are companies that provide excellent service and competitive rates. Our greatest strength continues to be air service, because as IATA Agents we can handle shipments that most new Agents cannot, as they do not have such registration in Mexico, in addition to having our own warehouse and refrigerated warehouse 24/7 at 300 meters from the customs of the main airport of Mexico City, gives us a great platform to attend our customers’ needs on time and with an extraordinary service. Another difference that I consider important lies in the fact that we continually seek to be at the forefront of technology to meet the requirements of our customers.”
-
-
Interesting fact/favorite thing about your local market?
-
“An interesting fact about the national market is that, as Mexicans, we always look for ways to do business and make things happen despite the fact that we have many obstacles to overcome. We are hard workers and we look for one way or another to get ahead. We are fortunate to be neighbors to the north of one of the countries whose economy is one of the most important in the world, another with whom we have established very important friendship and business ties that strengthen us as nations, and to the south, neighbors of countries that seek to develop and grow, as we do. So we are a whole region with great possibilities to achieve a very important economic and productive expansion.”
-
-
Favorite thing about membership with Global Value?
-
“One of the many things that I love about the Global Value Network is the closeness that the founders and directors of this network of agents (Bill & Will), have with each of the members of the association. They are present at every moment, they have really made us feel an important and close part of each other. And they continually come up with very creative ideas to strengthen the business ties between all of us.”
-
-
What kind of business are you looking to develop now?
-
“Currently, we are seeking to strengthen our land service for both import and export between our neighbors to the north and south, also providing an integral door to door service.”

What’s an interesting fact or your favorite thing about your local market?
-
“In May 2018, two new, massive cranes began operating at the Port of Philadelphia. Along with being an impressive sight, the cranes are a critical part of Philadelphia’s continued economic growth. The Port of Philadelphia employs about 10,000 workers and is Philadelphia’s gateway to our oceans and continents. Containers hauling cars, fuel, equipment, appliances, clothing, and even produce come through the Port of Philadelphia. In fact, the fruit and vegetables you buy at the grocery store probably came through the Port’s wholesale produce distribution center. The Port leverages Philadelphia’s prime location, with access to the Atlantic Ocean and close proximity to millions of Americans. It also generates about $70 million in tax revenue here in Pennsylvania. In other words, it’s an economic powerhouse responsible for sustaining and building Philadelphia’s middle class with jobs — and providing millions of Americans with food, clothing, household goods, cars, and more.”

We would like to partner with our overseas partners for such development projects in India.
For export business, we would like to concentrate on the following sectors: Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, Steel, Agro products and Textiles. When it comes to overland transport, especially when it crosses Arabic borders, ADSO is the best because we have 5 border offices in the UAE bordering Saudi Arabia and Oman. ADSO offers a seamless service to most international and local forwarders in the UAE. We specialize in project and OOG cargo movement with a range of lowbed capable of moving cargo up to 150 ton, dolly transport capable of transporting up to 96m long pieces, as well as hydraulic nicholas capable of moving units up to 200 ton. The combination of our border offices and our inhouse transport division give ADSO a great advantage.”

“My career in logistics began in the port of Antwerp in 1995. I worked there till 2003 as a forwarding agent. I was mainly occupied with road transportation to Russia and all other former countries of the Soviet Union. From February 2003 till 2013, I was country manager of Poland for one of the biggest consolidators in the world. In 2013, I started my own business based on my experience and the trust which was built with business partners across many years.”
-
-
What’s an interesting fact or your favorite thing about your local market?
-
“The Polish market is changing because it used to be mainly an import country, but in the last few years, we.ve seen that export is booming. Unfortunately, Polish exporters are selling their products at EXW or FCA bases, so we are dependent on the destination agents.”

Each year, I build up more and more experience from the different freight forwarding companies I work with and am surrounded by experienced specialists who I’d like to call my mentors. I also try to be a mentor for young passionate and new colleagues eager to learn the job and become a well trained specialist.”

How do you distinguish yourself from your competition, what makes you different?

“Apart from FCL, LCL, airfreight, multimodal transports, and crosstrade, we also specialise in handling project and breakbulk cargo. We offer you solutions on flatracks, open tops, exceptional transport, conventional shipments, roro or dedicated charter vessels. When needed we can even charter a cargo plane for you. We also offer door-to-door solutions at very competitive conditions with a state of the arte service. Our aim is to deliver your cargo at the best possible rate, in time and without claims, hassle or unforeseen costs.”
-
-
What’s an interesting fact or your favorite thing about your local market?
-
“We have a division specialized in shipping cars – mainly classic cars & oldtimers, but also 2nd hand and brand new cars. The handling & loading + unloading cars, even 3 and 4-packs with special construction inside containers, is part of our skills & services. At this moment we ship approx 50 x 40’HC containers per week to the Black Sea Region and are extending this traffic to Northern Africa and the Middle East. Last month, we shipped 213 cars + assistance vehicles from Antwerp to Casablanca and back. Having customs cleared in and out was a big challenge as also was the local road transport of these vehicles from Casablanca to the city of Fez and back from Essouira to Casablanca. We also have weekly arrivals from Brazil of the famous T1 + T2 VW busses. We handle approx. 50 busses per month. We discharge them in our own car warehouse, do the customs clearance and arrange delivery upon request to any place in Europe.”
-
-
What kind of business are you looking to develop now?
-
“As a general freight forwarding company who’s at home in all markets, we refuse to diversify. Our strength is that we can offer solutions for all transports worldwide whatever the cargo, whatever the size, whatever the tonnage, whatever the destination. I think we built up a very strong reputation the last few years, and some of our clients even gave us the nickname “The Handyman” … call “the Handyman” they say, they will come up with a solution and they will get the job done!”

We’ve been in the Freight Forwarder Business since 2009, so 12 years. We’re one of the best companies in Brazil for Project Cargo, especially for big Yachts. This has been our core business since the very beginning, and I am very familiar with the boat industry. As well as Foodstuff in general, reefer and dry containers, imports and exports.”
-
-
How do you distinguish yourself from your competition, what makes you different?
-
“I started working in a boat factory, so I was a customer of many freight forwarders. When I started this business, I didn’t have the experience of how to get rates, make quotes, or how to handle a shipment, but I knew what makes customers happy and what doesn’t. It took me more time to develop the proper networking that I needed to succeed, but on the other hand I was able to provide a more personalized service and see things the way the customers see, which resulted in more loyal customers.”
